So enough with the waiting.

Next week will be my last week at my current company. I have accepted a job offer with a company that designs and sells military and defense items. There was a pay increase, there was a title change, and I will be dealing with things I have never dealt with before. Next week will be about immersing myself in the material and learning as much as I can before I get there so I have some knowledge about the product line and about the work I will be performing.

The job is 18 miles further than I drive now but the good news is that it's on the train line so I will have the opportunity to take the train to work. I am very excited about the opportunity and I will be able to learn so much more, something that stopped here a while back.

Over Achievers!

We had our running group this morning, as I mentioned in my previous post, and I was a little concerned since we have not been keeping up with the running. Today's run was an whopping 8 miles.

We normally run around a lake and when we got to our turn around point my over achieving running group decided to run the whole distance around the lake. I wasn't very happy about it and neither was B since he was sick yesterday and throwing up...but what a trooper he was still up this morning and ready to run.

Anyway, by the time we finished we had run 9.5 miles. That is the most I have ever run in a single day and surprisingly I felt like I could have run for a bit longer once I got to the finish point. I am convinced that if I can do 9.5 miles I can totally do the half marathon I have signed up for in December.

And yea, I am bragging a little. :)

Friday, August 22, 2008

Really?

I just came back from lunch and I am sitting at my desk listening to my boss interview for another position...in a different company.

Is that not the craziest thing you have ever heard? Most people normally go to their cars for an interview but not him. This guy has a loud voice, you can literally hear him 3 offices away from his even when his door is closed.

Here is some advice for any of you who are out there looking for a job. If you don't want people to know you are looking, leave the office for your interviews.

"It's Been a whille, I know I shouldn't have kept you waiting but I am here now."

It's Britney bitch!

I am not a big fan of the train wreck that is Britney but I thought the song was appropriate since I have not posted in a while. So what's going on? What's new? What's up?

Just some updates from over the last two weeks.

Texas had a tax free weekend last week and everything was tax free. Since I have to start wearing suits and ties I decided to take advantage of the shopping opportunity. I got a ton of dress shirts, a few slacks, and two belts and they were all supper cheap. I still need more though so I will probably get up early on Labor Day and hit the mall before all the crazies get out there.

We went to Gay Bingo (basically its bingo with drag queens) and I won $237 which went towards my shopping bill. I was excited. I never win anything.

B's mother was in town for work and we had dinner with her on Monday after work at a really posh restaurant in town. B took the afternoon off to spend time with her and I met them at another restaurant for drinks before dinner. She was actually quite pleasant. I am not sure if it was the margaritas we had that loosened her up or if it was the jumbo margarita I had that loosened me up. Either way, she wasn't a total bitch!

I haven't really been keeping up with the running. I am probably running about 3 times a week instead of my 5 and I haven't been to a Saturday morning session in about 4 weeks. I am going this coming Saturday and we are suppose to run 8 miles. Lord help me!

This is going to sound vain but I am going to say it anyway. I was standing in front of the mirror today after I got out of the shower and my pecs are getting bigger. I tried to make them move on their own and they did :) I was excited. It's the little things.

One of my ex co-workers found out she was no longer working here when she received the new organizational chart and she wasn't listed on it. Doesn't that suck?

My glove compartment door won't close. I think the guy who did my state inspection broke it but that is just a suspision. It's goign to cost $163 to fix it. Bastards!

That's all I have.

Getting my car inspection.

Oh, No she didn't!

It's 8:59 and I have already had to go off on someone. I haven't been in the office for an hour yet, what is wrong with these people?

Nothing new to report

It's been hectic around here lately and I haven't had a chance to post...and I really havne't had anything to post that wasn't work related and I am not talking about that anymore.

So how is everyone? Any plans for the weekend?

Dining Adventure

I made plans to go out to dinner with a friend last night to catch up and have a drink to relieve some of the stress of our jobs. We met up at 8 p.m. at his place were we had a bottle of champagne before we decided on what restaurant to go to, we chose a new restaurant that is not even worth mentioning. We arrive and we are practically seated on the laps of the table next to us. We were given menus and the menu consisted of appetizers only. So we decided to finish our drinks and go.

We choose another place and drove there...whe ordered a drink and we were informed the kitchen had closed...so we move on to 3 other restaurants whose kitchens have all closed. We finally end up finding a restaurant that is open late and we end up having dinner at 11 p.m.

It was an adventure...and we had a good laughs and lots to drink. I woke up this morning and I was still a bit drunk but I needed a night of fun.

Oh No!

My worse fear has become a reality. Now that our department is so small they are goign to move us (again) and this time they are going to put us right in the middle of everything...the legal department. We will now have to wear ties and suits every day to work.

I am not looking forward to that. Needless to say the job search has begun. I have applied to a couple of jobs today and I hope I hear something back soon.

Confusion

So I came back to work after lunch and I found a box sitting next to my co-workers desk. I thought about going over there and saying "What's going on? Did you get fired?" but as soon as I walked to her desk I realized her personal belongings were gone and there was nobody else around for me to find anything about.

I later find out over 2/3 of the people in our department (made up of 5 smaller departments) were let go. Out of the 5 departments our department is the one that was able to keep 5 of our people, most other departments no longer excist and 2 other departments were left with one person.

We no longer have a department, we just have a group of people who are all strugling to figure out what is going on. Tomorrow our department will be restructured and we will all know where we end up and what our new responsibilities are.

So my job search begins. Keep your fingers crossed and send some positive energy my way.

Slow Week

It's been a slow week for me and it looks like it's been a slow week in the news too. While reading the local gay paper I found the following:

Robber pummels Condom Sense clerk with umbrella, steals vibrators
On Sunday, July 24, a suspect robbed Condom Sense, 4038 Cedar Springs Road. In the process the suspect struck one of the store’s employees over the head with an umbrella before stealing six Juno vibrators, valued at more than $400. The stolen items included two larges, two mediums, one small and one of undeclared size.

One of the stolen vibrators was recovered.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call police at 214-671-4TIP.

Slow week indeed.

Birthday Weekend

Saturday was B's birthday and we both took Friday off to rest and relax a bit before the big party on Friday night. His friend came in from out of town on Friday around noon and we all went to lunch and grabbed some margaritas.

We had some of B's closest friends over at our place for some drinks and food and later we met the rest of the group at a restaurant for drinks. When we got there the place was a mad house. The restaurant was bursting at the seams and there was people waiting for over 2 hours to be seated. When we got there we found out that the restaurant had given up our reservations and now we had to wait like everyone else. I was PISSED. We were early, they had called to confirm our reservations because we had 52 people in our party, and I had stopped by earlier to drop off a cake so they knew we were coming. After speaking to the managers several times I found them all to be complete idiots who lacked communications skills so we had to go to plan B. Since we were just having drinks we took over the bar area (which was already over crowded) and decided that would be our new plan, stand around and drink. I think (hope) everyone had a good time, I know I did. We left there and walked over to a gay bar a few blocks over where we had more drinks and met up with more friends. Over all the whole night was a success and B had a great time.

Saturday we slept in a little and got up and cooked breakfast before his friend left back home. Later that night I took B out to dinner and then we went to the movies to see Mama Mia. The movie was okay and Pierce Brosnan was horrible in the movie. He can't sing, I am not sure why he was playing the part.

Sunday we slept in until noon and headed to a pool party around 1:30. It was way to hot to be out in the sun so we were just there for about 1.5 hours and then headed home.

I also picked up several books on Sunday and I started reading The Zahir by Paulo Coelho and it's a realy good book.

That's all for now.

It's Friday!

And I am out of the office today. Both B and I took the day off to relax and prepare for his b-day get together. It's been a nice relaxing day with eye brow waxes, hair cuts, and margaritas. Now we are just at home relaxing with one of his friends that is in from out of town.

What are you doing?

Weekend Update

It's time for a weekend update!

Friday night is our "stay home and relax" night since we have to get up at 5 a.m. to go running on Saturdays. Saturday we went for a run and we only had to run 3 miles. A few months ago running 3 miles was a huge deal, now I am relieved when I see the schedule and see we only have to run 3 miles.

After the run we ran errands and went to Costco to prepare for Ben's birthday party. While we were there we purchased The Perfect Pushup. I am sure you have all seen the infomercials on t.v. and I have been wanting one for a while and since they are a lot cheaper at Costco we decided to get one. In a few months I will be ripped. haha

We were suppose to go to a party for a friends boyfriend birthday but the party was about an hour away from where we live so we decided to skip it and have some people over for dinner. We invited two friends over and they brought 3 bottles of champagne, dessert, and a plant. Isn't that nice? Who brings plants anymore? After dinner we ended up playing monopoly and drinking 4 bottles of champagne and 2 bottles of wine. It was a lot of alcohol but it was 4 of us so it's really not much more than we would have drank had we gone out to the bars.

On Sunday B drove to Austin for work so we went and grabbed breakfast and I dropped him off at the car rental place. I then went to the mall looking for a gym bag, for some reason my old gym bag smells really bad. I washed it several times and it still smells so I decided to get a new one. Unfortunately I didn't find one but I did do some other impulse buys while I was there.

Later that day I went to my nieces pool party where I got to spend time with the family and see family I haven't seen in years.

Over all it was a good weekend.

MIni Update

Hello World.

I don't really have much to say right now. There isn't anything exciting going on. B's parents were in town. I guess I could blog about that but I don't really have anything to say.

B's birthday is coming up and we are having a small get together. Oh, and guess what? I already bought the gift, I didn't wait until the last minute to go buy something. I actually had it ordered and delivered over 2 weeks in advance. I was shocked.

I will try to get some stories over the weekend and write an update, until then...

Have a great weeekend.

No More Drink For You!

We met up for dinner and drinks with three other couples. It's a fun group and they can get kind of loud and rowdy without any alcohol.

So we were eating dinner and we were at a place that offers $3 margaritas/mojitos/sangrias. After dinner and many drinks we decided to stick around and take advantage of the drink specials and catch up a little. When you have 8 people and everyone is trying to talk to everyone you tend to get loud. So after about 5 (weak) drinks the waiter comes over to our table and we order another round of drinks and he tells us (in a very thick accent)"No more drink for you! I can't serve you more than the law allows. It's not me. It's the law."

We all looked at each other confused because nobody was drunk, we were just having a good time. He agreed to serve one more drink and then brought us our check.

It kind of felt like we were kicked out.

Have you ever been kicked out of a place or been denied service?

Don't Try This At Home

Although I have admitted to being ahorrible cook and later bragged about being a good cook I am officially saying I suck! No, I mean it. I am not saying it to get sympathy or compliments. I mean it. I SUCK!

Last week I found a recipe for turkey burgers with mango chutney. I love mango chutney so I was really looking forward to trying it out. The recipe called for mango chutney, sour cream, and other ingredients I had around the house so it wasn't a big deal. I followed the recipe's instructions and did everything it wanted me to but it didn't work. It was soggy and not firm enough to make patties. I was very disappointed that all that food went to waste. And even more that we had to go out and buy dinner.

B and I made a pact when we first started dating. If one of us cooked and it wasn't good then we would just go out to dinner. In the year and a half we have been dating yesterday was the first time we ever had to put the fact into effect. There have been many times when we were cooking grilled chicken or something equally unexciting and had cravings for a good hamburger or tacos when I wished the food would burn but it never happened.

So last night Lucy (the dog) and I voted that B would be the official cook of our house hold. I hope B is okay with that. We haven't told him yet.

Thursday, July 03, 2008

I am still recovering from this past weekend and with the holiday weekend coming up I am sure I will be recovering next week also.

I have been late to work every day this week, some days by more than an hour. It's a slow week so it doesn't really matter but I need to get back to my normal sleeping pattern.

Last night we went to bed at 11 but after not being able to sleep we went back to the living room and watched t.v. until 1 a.m. The previous night we had a shaving cream fight (which I don't recommend). I guess I should explain. B had just gotten out of the shower and was about to shave when I walked into the restroom. He was trying to be funny and got shaving cream all over my face when he tried to kiss me so a small shaving cream war followed. I won! So after cleaning up, showering, and trying to get shaving cream out of walls, carpets, floors, mirrors, and the dog we were to wound up to go to bed.

So here I am sitting at my desk fighting the urge to go to sleep. So nudge me every once in a while to make sure I am not asleep over here.

Houston Recap

I am still trying to recover from Houston and I am afraid I am not in the mood for a long or detailed post so here are the basics.

Friday:
My friends picked me up, it ended up being just 3 of us since one backed out. We made great time and got there in about 3 hours instead of 4 thanks to our speed demon driver.

When i got dropped off at the hotel B was already dressed and ready to go out so I did a quick outfit change and headed out with B and his co-worker to the bars. We met up with B's old roommate and his friends and later my friends joined us. B didn't stay long since he had to get up early so my friends and I left the bar and went to some other bars. I didn't get back to the hotel until around 3 or 4.

Saturday:
I got a wake up call at 10 a.m. because my friend was hungry so I was picked up, we did a quick drive by where B was for work and then went to the mall shopping. I didn't buy anything for myself but I found a couple of shirts for B.

Later that night we went to the parade (see previous posts) and we went dancing. We had a great time and didn't get back to the hotel until 5 a.m.

Sunday:
I woke up at early to pack and get ready for the drive back. B was flying back so he got to sleep in a little longer than I did. The drive back was very quiet at first because we were all tired but it was good. We got back home at the same time that B did so I just lounged all afternoon and B went to sleep at 4:30 p.m. and didn't wake up until the next day. I was a bit bored and wanted to wake him up but I knew he was tired.

We took Monday off to relax and didn't really do much other than hang out and watch movies at home.

Houston Pride: Road Trip

Contain Yourselves!

A friend invited me the grand opening/30th Anniversary celebration for The Container Store last night. And since Be is out of town on business I decided to tag along. I didn't know what to expect and I really didn't know what the event was for until my guest and I showed up at my friends place. That's when we learned it was all the way in Plano which is about 40 minutes from where I live and that they were expecting over 3,000 people. We get there at 7 p.m. and we see this:

It was at an actual store. Nice/Fancy? That is not the place I would have a party if I was celebrating my 30th anniversary but no big deal, it wasn't my decision. Other than the fact that it was at their store it turned out to be a nice evening. The food was amazing! They had little food stations set up throughout the store and the best part of it all is that they used items from the store to serve the food. So the caterers were walking around with a picture frame as their serving platter and we were eating out of things that you can actually find at the store. For example, they had Asian food and we ate that out of these take out boxes, soup was served in glass jars and dessert was served in clear amac boxes. I thought that was very creative and unique and a great way to get people to notice your products.

They even had a great live band and dance floor...and what's worse is that people were actually attempting to dance.

It was funny. There were more cougars than you could shake a stick at and they were all flirting with the young cute caterer boys.

It was fun but after a while we got a little bored. So we decided to practise our "I don't care" and "I am bored" looks like the bitchy queens we are. So we stood around for a good while trying to show my friend how to pull those looks off. Unfortunately there were other bitchy queens there that have the look down to a science. As we were walking past a group of them they gave us the I don't care and I am bored look in a combination and threw in sound effects. I must master that combination. Since we were beaten at our own game we decided to window shop and I found some pretty good deals. When was the last time you were at The Container Store? It's been at least a year for me and I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. Are you ready? It's not just containers! I found some great pet necessities like this pet travel container and this pet food scoop both of which I am going back to buy. I also found this tea storage box I am considering getting. And look at this bungee chair! It is so comfortable, especially after stuffing my face with all the food that passed my way.

Once we got bored with window shopping we found this great little device.

It lets you practise your fisting technique! See it's more than just containers.

Does anyone have anything interesting to report? Anything?

Work is really slow right now. We all have to take our vacations by the end of this month or we loose the time that we accumulated so everyone is out of the office and as a result we are completely bored out of our minds.

I would take time off but I don't have any left. So if you have a blog I need you to update. If you don't have a blog I need you to leave a comment and entertain me.

Sincerely,

Me

Slut

Every so often I check the stats on my page. Not because I have a lot of readers just because I am curious and I am always surprised what keywords people use to get to my blog. Someone found my blog by looking up Slutty Confessions. Maybe I should write about my slutty confessions more often to give them a reason to come back.

Freakishly Big

My sister mentioned that my right leg looked swollen after I came back with bloody and bruised legs from the tubing trip. I didn't think anything about it, I was putting ice on it, neosporin, and I was taking really good care of it because I HATE scars. I guess this is also a confession. I hate scars on my body but I think scars on other people can be sexy. Anyway, back to the original post.

So yesterday I was at the gym and I was working out my calf's when I noticed that my right calf is freakishly big when you compare it to my left one. It bothered me so much that I went directly to the mirror and started to compare my legs, I am sure everyone at the gym thought I was a freak but I had a problem on my hands (or legs). Later that night, after a few cocktails and a bottle of wine B and I were sitting on the couch and I bolt up and stand directly in front of the t.v. to have B inspect my legs. After he confirmed that my right one is abnormally big we break out the measuring tape and start taking measurements.

After many attempts the measuring tape confirmed what our eyes saw, my calf is huge! So from now on I will only be working out my left calf.

Make me feel better and tell me about your body parts that are abnormally big.

Gay Pride

It's Gay Pride Month here in the U.S. and my b/f works for a gay organization so he has to travel to different pride events around the country every weekend. It's not fun for him because most of the places he visits have been really hot (temperature wise) and he has to be outside in the heat talking to people. So he doesn't really enjoy it.

He has to go to Houston Pride next weekend. Two friends and I decided to drive down there for the weekend and enjoy pride. I went with B to Houston pride last year and I "volunteered" to help him. By volunteer, I mean I had to help him because the guy that went with him decided he was "sick" so I went and helped out. It was hot, humid, and raining and we had a big argument. It wasn't fun for either of us.

This year I am not planning on helping unless something really bad happens and all of his volunteers don't show up. But as of now, I am planning an hanging out with my friends and enjoy the festivities.

If you were dating me, would it bother you that I was there having a good time while you were worked your ass off?

Have you been to a pride event? Did you enjoy it?

The Scream

So I promised I would post a picture of B and here it is!

While my mother was in town I made flour tortillas and one of them ended up looking like the face from the painting The Scream.

I thought about putting it on Ebay but before I could save it B ended up eating it.

Tease

My home computer is trying to torture me and it's not letting me use the internet so I won't be making any post this weekend.

I will be posting a picture of my boyfriend B on Monday so stay tuned.

Never judge a book by it's cover

I was at the gym during lunch today and while working out a guy that is always there with who I thought was his lover comes over and asks about the big band-aid on my leg. The band-aid is covering up the big gash that I picked up while tubing. We make small talk and I learn that the guy who he works out with is straight and married with kids (no one would have ever guessed that), we went to the same school for our MBA, and he is a pharmacist.

Later he comes back as I am doing hammer curls and says:

Him: I forgot to tell you something really funny.
Me: (concerned about what it could be) Oh yea, what's that?
Him: I always see you coming in with your work clothes and I pegged you as a pharmacist. I thought 'he must work over at CVS'.
Me: (Laugh) No, I sure don't.

As he walks away I make a mental note: Start Dressing Better!

Self Portrait

Taken at my sisters house. They have a pond in their yard that has turned red and green. It's some sort of algea that they are trying to control but the algea is winning.

Kate

The return of Kate the transgender cat. I was at my sisters house yesterday where I ran into Kate my sisters cat. They thought it was a female cat so they named her Kate. When they found out she was a he they started to call her Tiger but unfortunately the name Kate stuck. So this is Kate the Transgender cat.

Mom

I know I need to post about tubing but I have another brief post. And besides, we haven’t uploaded the pictures yet so it will have to wait another few days.

So my mom has been staying with B and I this week. I picked her up on Monday and I took Tuesday off to spend with her. We really didn’t do much other than shopping and lots of cooking. It was nice just hanging out with my mom. Every time she comes into town she always makes me my favorite food. Chile con Carne and hand made flour tortillas. It’s the best comfort food and she makes me enough to last me a few weeks. Thank god for freezers.

Mom has been sleeping in our room and B and I have been sleeping in a blow up mattress in the living room. It hasn’t been comfortable but it’s been nice.

But that’s not really what I wanted to post about. Yes it’s been nice having my mom around and I enjoy spending time with her but I wanted to post about how comfortable she has gotten with the whole gay thing. She has been very supportive and has made a real effort to make B feel comfortable. The day we picked her up she gave him a little gift that she gave all of the son-in-laws and on Monday she gave him a little something also. It’s the little things, you know? I don’t need her to be a PFLAG mom or anything like that. I just want her to love me. And she does…and she always has. I never doubted it but it’s nice to see that she (along with the rest of my family) accepts me for who I am and who I choose to share my life with.

Anyway, I don’t really have the words to express how I feel but I wanted to share something. I think I am very lucky to have the family that I have.

Tubing Weekend

This is a short post so I can share the pictures below. I will make a more detailed post with more pictures later.

The weekend was a lot of fun. We drove down to the river in South TX. We stopped at Sam's on the way out there to pick up groceries. There were a total of 14 people, 4 gay guys and 10 lesbians, and after 45 minutes at Sam's we came out with 3 cards of groceries and 10 cases of beer.

It looks like a lot of food but we were there for 3 nights and 4 days. So it was just enough.

Thank God lesbians travel with rope and bungee cords or we would have never made it with all the food packed behind a trailer.

We ran out of beer on the second day so we had to go to the local grocery store and pick up 5 more cases.

I came back with a bit of a tan, 4 lbs heavier, with some bloody and bruised legs, and a few new friends.

Hot and Naked

I am sitting on my couch naked and very hot. My a/c went out last night around 1 a.m. and I am waiting on the repair man to come over and get it back up and running. Its 92 degrees right now and I am HOT!

I have a headache, I am hungry, and I am sweaty. I won't be able to take this much longer so they better get here soon or I may pass out.

Family Guy

B and I were watching Family Guy last night.

Me: Brian (the dog) is fat.
B: He is a dog.
Me: He is still fat.

He is still my favorite character though because he drinks.

Good News!

I went to the AT&T store and they were able to extract my contacts from my old phone to my new phone.

Everything is good with the world again. We now returned to your normally scheduled program.

Random

I know I said I was going to post more often but I really don't have anything to talk about. Sad but true.

B is going to be out of town for most of the month of June so I will be single but not in the lets go out and get drunk, naked, and sleep with anyone you want single. Just the I am lonely single.

I got a new phone yesterday. I don't have any one's numbers in the new phone though. I have to go get the numbers transferred at the wireless store.

That's about it.

What's going on with you?

Weekend Update

I haven’t posted in a few days…blame the weekend…the alcohol…or the pool parties. So here is a quick update of the weekend:

On Friday B and I took a friend to dinner and to the movies. We watched Indiana Jones; I haven’t seen any of the other ones so I thought it was good. The people I was with said the first one was better but I don’t have anything to judge it against.

On Saturday we went to a birthday party at a friend’s house and we played in the pool. We also tried the Wii Fit and Guitar Hero. Playing guitar and drums is hard, I totally sucked at it but I would try it again. The Wii fit is not as exciting as I thought it would be but it’s still fun. Saturday night we went out to the bars with some friends and the bars were dead. I would have figured the bars would be busy since it was a holiday day weekend. I was wrong.

On Sunday we went to a bbq at a friend’s house and then we all headed out to the bars. And guess what? They were dead again. What is wrong with people these days? It’s a holiday weekend, go out and enjoy it.

On Monday, we slept in late since we were running on very few hours of sleep and then we went to Lowes to pick up some stuff we needed. Later in the day we went to a neighbor’s house for a bbq and to the neighborhood pool were we played water volleyball against a couple of cute guys and a few bitchy girls.

That’s it. As much time as I spent in the water you would think I would have had a tan by now but no luck. I am thinking of joining a tanning service.

Ball Sweat

Scene: Bar with lots of gay men, cigarette smoke and dance music playing in the background.

Guy 1: Do i smell good? (puts wrist to guy 2's nose)
Guy 2: What is that? (As he wrinkles his nose and gives guy 1 a look of disgust)
Guy 1: Ball sweat! (As he walks away)

Bad Boys

Guy 1: How are things with Mark going?
Guy 2: I am not sure. He texted and I replied but I never heard back from him. I called and left him a message but he never called back.
Guy 1: It's probably for the best. He looks like a sleaze ball.
Guy 2: I don't know why I am attracted to him. I just can't help it.
Guy 1: It's probably the bad boy in him.
(Long Pause)
Guy 2: Is it possible for an interior designer to be a bad boy?

A sign of the times

We went to a little gathering last night and out of 7 people, 3 had been recently been laid-off, 1 had recently started a new job after being laid-off, 2 were looking for jobs because of uncertainties with their job, and the other still had a stable job.

What is wrong with that picture?

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

I started working out with B yesterday. He is trying out my gym for a week so that we can work out together and it's the best workout I have done in a long time. He pushed me and made me do a lot heavier weights that I would have done on my own. As a result, I am sore but it feels good. We are going to continue working out all week and when it's time to change the workout I will go to his gym for a week.

It's nice to have someone to talk to while we work out but the workout took twice as long as normal. I don't like that. I like to get in and get out. I am not one who goes to the gym to socialize, if you want to talk to me give me a call or send me an email. When I go tot he gym I wear my ipod and ignore everyone around me. I am sure people thing I am rude...but I don't enjoy being there so I just want to get it over with. It's like torture...but hopefully you get good results.

We are doing a whole body workout but I want to concentrate on my arms and chest. I want to have a nice chest so that I can wear v-neck shirts. Don't judge me...you know you are vain too!

I should do the before and after pictures to get the full effect of the changes.

Home is where the Mom is!

My mom is in town for a month long visit. She is staying with all of us for at least a few days so it will be nice to spend time with her.

B and I picked her up from the airport on Saturday and we spent the rest of the day visiting family and eating...and eating...and eating. It was fun.

Yesterday, I decided to go visit mom after work so I took off for the hour long drive to my brothers house where they were cooking chile con carne and hand made flour tortillas. Chile con carne is like the American chili stew but 1,000 times better. It has a much better flavor and you can eat it with hand made tortillas...nothing is better than that.

When i got there my mom was the only one there so I helped her make tortillas until everyone else got there and I was kicked out of the kitchen and laughed at my tortillas because they were not round. They were basically every shape but round. OH well, they tasted good.

After all the eating I made the trip back home where I immediately went to sleep. I woke up this morning and I am still stuffed.

What reminds you of home?

YOU ARE ALL SAYING THE SAME THING!

Meetings at my hell hole are horrible. Everyone talks over each other and everyone wants to be the alpha male/female so they have to get their point across no matter what.

I just got out of a meeting that should have taken 30 minutes at the most but instead took almost an hour and a half. Everyone talks all over each other so you can't hear anything anyone says. If someone is speaking someone else chimes in with something completely unrelated so nothing ever gets accomplished. After something has been decided someone wants to make changes.

After a while I had to say "THE FORMAT HAS BEEN DECIDED, MOVE ON" and "YOU ARE ALL SAYING THE SAME THING!" and yes I did raise my voice. You have to raise your voice if you want to be heard.

I hate meetings.

Tell me about your meetings. Are they better than mine? Do people pay attention?

5K

I ran another 5K yesterday. I ran my first 5K in March as part of my
running class. After my first 5K I said I wanted to improve my time to run an 8 minute mile and I did it but I didn't meat the goal I had set up for myself. I wanted to run the whole thing in 25 minutes and I ended up running it in 25 minutes and 18 seconds. Had I pushed myself a little harder I could have done it in under 25 minutes.

My goal for next time is to run it in under 23 minutes.

I am not sure if I have mentioned this or not but I am training for a half-marathon. My first one is going to be in November and the second one is going to be in December.

I will definitely need cheerleaders for that one!

California Gay Marriage Ban Overturned

The California Supreme Court overturned the ban on gay marriage and there is already a petition out there to amend the state Constitution to ban gay marriage.

How do you feel about it? How would you vote if this was up for a vote in your state or country?

Guilty as Charged!

Once upon a time. No, I mean. I once dated a guy who was a writer. I wrote about it here, here, and here and probably in many other places.

I admit it. I wasn't the nicest guy. When we broke up I probably handled it wrong and I a still being reminded.

We spoke today for the first time in along time. The conversation went like this:

Writer Guy: Oh, you'll be pleased to know the men here are worth writing about.
Me: That's great. That should give you plenty of writing material.
Writer Guy: I am writing about my trial and errors with lovers and I am calling it "Traded". You should start thinking about who will play you in the film.

I probably deserve those jabs. I can be an ass at times.

Tell me about your worst break up? Where you the bad guy/girl?

Baby Mama

We saw the movie Baby Mama this weekend. It’s not the type of movie I would normally watch but a friend wanted to see it and he had been asking for a few weeks for us to go with him and his partner. We bought our tickets on line and invited a few other people and when it came down to it, the friend who really wanted to go see it never showed up. Apparently he overslept or something.

The movie was hilarious. It’s all predictable but you still have a good time laughing at their silly antics. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are both amazingly good. It also has a lot of good actors like Sigourney Weaver and Steve Martin. Normally, I don’t enjoy movies with Steve Martin because he seems to be a bit to over-the-top but it was a much toned down version of his normal acting.

Anyway, the story line is this: Successful unmarried woman (Tina Fey) puts her career before family, now she wants to have a baby. Woman tries adoption and to get pregnant but she cant so she turns to an agency that finds surrogate mothers (owned by Sigourney Weaver) and she is matched with Amy Poehler’s character. The surrogate lies about being pregnant so she can continue getting checks, she breaks up with her boyfriend and movies in with her…funny scenes follow. I won’t ruin the end just in case you want to watch it.

Sit Bitch! Sit!

We just got back from dog training classes. We figured it would be good for Lucy to get some basic training. After trying to do the most basic of commands she refused to do it and as a result got labeled as stubborn.

She refused to sit. Sit. The most basic things all dogs should know how to do.

Oh, and she also stole the treats from the instructor. That little thieve.

I am going to practise the command sit with her. Maybe she will be able to master it by next time we go for training.

Sit Bitch! Sit!

Tell me about yourself.

If you haven't noticed, I have been blogging a lot more lately. I think I am back...full time.

So I want to know about you, all 3 of my readers. Who is reading the blog? How did you find my blog? Do you have a blog? If so, what's your blog address?

Just wondering who is out there. Come on. Don't be shy.

Things from the Past

I am taking a box home from work today. I plan on sitting down in front of my cd rack and packing up my cd's. Two reasons really, one, I don't have room for them and two, I haven't used a cd in many, many years.

I am debating if I am just going to store them or if I am going to sell them at one of those second hand cd stores.

Is there anything we use right now that you think might become obsolete in the future?

Overheard at a Thai Restaurant

I went to lunch with my co-workers on Friday to a Thai restaurant.

There were two ladies sitting at the table next to us:

Lady 1: Do you want some spring rolls?
Lady 2: Are those the crunchy ones?
Lady 1: No, those are the ones with the rice paper.
Lady 2: No, I don't like those. They remind me of condoms.

How dare you interupt my training!

I conduct a training course for two of my co-workers every other Tuesday. It's a welcome to our business 101 and I do it out of the kindness of my heart (cough).

Right as we are getting ready to start one of them dials in and says "C, I am not going to be able to make it today. I am about to leave work and go to the hospital."

And me, being the senstive guy that I am said "Can't you tough it out? It's only for an hour."

Nobody thought it was funny.

Dilemma!

A good friend went out on Sunday night and met a guy. The guy is a guy I somewhat know from a previous encounter. Back when I was single I met him out and we were flirting etc. And his friend came over and asked about his boyfriend. In other words, he is a cheating, lying, ho bag.

Should I tell my friend?

Honestly, I don’t really know that much about this guy besides that.

Yellow Pages Goes Green!

If you haven't already done so, go to Yellow Pages Goes Green and submit your address to be removed from receiving unsolicited Yellow Pages.

Who uses the yellow pages anyway? Most people who use the internet are savvy enough to know how to look up any information they need via the internet or they are familiar with google's free text service that provides you an address and a phone number for what you are looking for.

So why do we continue to receive Yellow Pages? If you are like me, you either throw them away or recycle them as soon as you receive the. Why not save yourself a step and sign up to stop receiving them all together?

Pass on the information to as many people as possible and maybe we can save a tree or a forrest.

Overprotective parents or hippies

Someone I know went to his niece’s birthday party and he was telling me about it. The child is 2 years old and the parents did not allow the child to have candy on her own birthday.

The cake was made out of sugarless frosting.

The piñata had small toys inside instead of candy. And the biggest thing of all is that they were not allowing the kids to hit the piñata of Elmo. Instead, the piñata had strings and each child got a chance to pull a string. One of those strings was connected to Elmo’s back and when they pulled it the toys inside fell out.

I don’t have any kids but this seems rather strange to me. First off, no sugar? Are you serious? Then the piñata. Seriously?

Over protective parents or hippies? You be the judge.

Indulge my while I brag a little.

We ran for 45 minutes yesterday! That is the most we have ever run since we started our running program. I was ready to give up after 30 minutes because I wore the wrong pair of shoes but if I had two options 1. Stop running and walk back to the car which would take me about 30 minutes or 2. Keep running and make it back to the car in 15. I choose to run. At the end of the run I could have kept going for another 15 minutes but we were trying not to over do it since we have to run hills tomorrow and I will need all my strength for that.

If you ever think about picking up running make sure you visit a running store that sells running shoes. I am not talking about your local Foot Locker or shoe store inside a mall; I am talking about a running store where you can pick up everything from your shoes to your clothes. When we first started running I was wearing my old pair of Nike’s, they were cute and stylish but definitely not made for running. After a couple of weeks I kept getting chin splits and a pain on the right side of my knee. After visiting the running store where we do our running program they fitted me (by fitting I mean they made me run, with shoes, barefoot, walk and measured my foot) for shoes and determined that I needed different shoes. I know what you are thinking…SUCKER they are going to sell you the most expensive shoes they’ve got! And I thought that too but I paid about $100 for my first pair of shoes.

I took them home and I ran in them for about 2 weeks but I was still having problems. So I returned the shoes and I was fitted again. This time I paid $69 for a new pair of shoes and my pain went away. I got a pair of Asics and I love these shoes. If they are a good shoe store and not out to make a quick buck, they won’t try to up sell you and will get you the right pair of shoes, no matter how much they cost.

I later went back and got a pair of Nike Zoom Elite because of a sale they were having. I paid about $48 for the shoe. Great price but not a great shoe for my foot. This is the shoe I wore on my run yesterdays and if your foot goes numb…It’s not a good thing. The right socks also make a big difference. I like these Nike Elite Structure socks. They hold your foot together and have the dri-fit technology that takes the moisture away from your skin which keeps your feet from getting all sweaty as you run.

This post was not meant to be advertising for Nike. But I do like most of their products, especially Nike+. This product works with your iPod and it keeps track of how far you run, your pace, speed, etc. You insert one piece of the gadget in your shoes and the other one gets attached to your iPod. It also communicates with you and tells you how you are doing. Which is great for a little added motivation. I don’t have one of these so I can’t say how well it works but I would love to have one and try it out. They are not that expensive, I believe they are about $30 but you need an iPod nano which is where I run into a problem. I have an iPod video and I am not willing to buy another one just for a gadget.

So the moral of this story is to get fitted for shoes and go out for a run or a walk. It will make you feel so much better.

Daddy and Jack

Meet Daddy and Jack. Jack is the one on it's belly and Daddy is the dominant one standing over Jack. These are the crawfish we adopted at the fish fry this past weekend.

Unfortunately we had to set them free. They were not looking very good so we decided to set them free in their natural habitat. This picture is of them trying to make a run for it and get back into the dirty water of some creek.

I use to like it when Daddy would crab on to my finger with its sharp little pinchers and make me bleed. Oh, the good times we shared. They will be missed.

My Boyfriend has a Date

My boyfriend has a date this weekend. Yes, you read that right. He has a date this weekend. I didn't believe it either and I am pissed about it.

He is going to a work event in Houston and he is taking a transgender woman as his date. I know I don't have boobs but come one...

So I have decided to have a date this weekend also. Reichen and his HOT HOT HOT underwear model boyfriend Ryan Barry are going to be in town for an event. Maybe I can get Ryan to fall in love with me and take me on a date.

I think its only fair that I get to date Ryan while B is going out on his date

Crawfish, Cougars and Drunks. Oh My!

It was an exciting weekend. Saturday I woke up at 6 a.m. to go to meet up with my running group where we worked on running up and down hills. It was exhausting but so much fun!

I then took the dog to the dog park and the farmers market. I also went with a friend to check out a loft he is thinking about renting. It’s in an old flower mill and they have used the old parts of the mill as decorations through out the building. The one he is getting has a fire door on one of the walls and a stairwell bolted on the ceiling.

Later that night B and I met up with a friend for drinks in Plano, one of the suburbs, where we were surrounded by Cougars. It was an interesting mix of people with a lot of older people but a good mix of young people. We kept looking at the Cougars and the men that want them as they went in for the kill.

Our friend’s neighbor was also there; by the time we got there he was drunk. So drunk that he kept asking us the same questions over and over again. At first it was funny but after a while it was annoying.

Sunday we were invited to celebrate a friend’s boyfriend’s birthday. He is from Louisiana and had a fish fry to celebrate his birthday. There was lots of gumbo, salmon, shrimp and crawfish. B and I had never had crawfish before so they showed us how to crack them and get the meat out. Some people also suck the heads but that was to nasty for us. So we just ate one and decided crawfish were not for us. They taste very earthy and it’s a lot of work to eat especially when you only have get about ½ an inch of meat from each crawfish.

At the party there was also a drunk, drunk, drunk lady who kept spilling on herself and falling over. Apparently she doesn’t get out often and was taking this opportunity to act a fool. She was talking on the side and the rest of us were talking and she tells me I am stupid for interrupting her. Mind you that she is drunk and has no clue what she is talking about so all I say is “you are drunk”. I am not big on confrontation, especially when someone is drunk and no matter what you tell them they will take it as confrontational so she was quitted down by one of her friends and later come by and gave me a hug when she was leaving. If you are going to act a fool you might as well just stay home. Here you are ruining someone’s birthday party and all because you can’t handle your liquor. The rest of us had a good time though, and she was taken home soon after.

B and I also picked up two new pets this weekend. There was a sack of crawfish lying on the floor and a lot of them were trying to escape their fates by clawing their way out of the mesh sack and hiding in the vegetation around them. B and I decided to save them form their deaths and ended up taking two of them home in a cup us as our new pets. We named them Jack and Daddy (there is a restaurant in seafood restaurant in the area called Daddy Jack’s). After researching what they eat we think we can keep them alive. We are going to get a fish bowl and some rocks keep them together. I will have to post pictures of Daddy and Jack once we get them their new home.

Why do people pick up the phone when they can't talk and say "I'll call you right back."?

Why not let the call go to voice mail?

Blogging is hard!

I use to blog a lot before I got into a relationship. I blogged about my adventures in the dating world, the fun events I got to go to, and other random stuff. Now that I am in a relationship, it seems to be getting harder to find things to blog about without writing about our relationship.

I am going to have to start making up stories to keep me entertained.

Why I Hate NetFlix!

I use to belong to Blockbuster online but I wasn't happy when they increased their prices and then, for good measure, increased their prices again.

So I switched to NetFlix around December of 2007. After a 3 month trial I am canceling my subscription with Netflix because they are way to slow to deliver movies. If I send a movie back on a Monday, I won't receive another movie back until Thursday or Friday. That is 4 days of WAITING. I am not a very patient person, and I realize that, but 4 days is a long time. With Blockbuster, I use to get a movie back within a day or two. Now that is speed!

So after 4 complaints to Netflix and not an acknowledgement from Netflix that they had received my complaint, I have decided to cancel the subscription.

I don't think it's to much to expect a little customer service and a fast delivery time.

First 5K

Today I ran my first 5K! It was great and I am so proud I finished.

Sure I have done other 5K's before but this is the first time I have ran the whole thing. And I wasn't even tired at the end, I could have gone on a few more miles.

We have another 5K in a few weeks so I hope to improve my time in that race. I ran a 9 minute mile and I would like to improve that to an 8 minute mile for the next run.

Eventually, I would like to run a 6 minute mile.

Quick Update about the interview

IT SUCKED!

No, it really did!

Lots of issues listed below:

1. I didn't have anything to wear. It seems I have gained weight and all of my shirts are to small around the collar so I had a hard time finding a shirt to wear. SO I queened out and B had to bring me back down to earth.

2. I didn't sleep very well. I kept waking up every hour and checking the clock. I was very tired this morning...thank god for eye cream.

3. I got to the airport at 7 a.m. (which means I got up at 5:30).

4. Nobody knew what to do with me, I had to go through security twice because I had to go back and get my boarding pass (not my fault...theirs).

5. We changed gates 3 times. I lost my phone in one of those gate changes. Luckily someone turned it in and I found it.

6. Flight was late.

7. When I got there I couldn't get a cab to take me to where I needed to go. I asked 5 different ones and they all said NO. ASSHOLES! I had to call a cab to come and get me. Apparently, if they leave the airport they can't come back for 3 hours and since I was going such a short distance they didn't want to take me.

8. The interview didn't go well. I think one of the ladies liked me and the other didn't. Not a big deal. Not sure I would want to work there. I need to do more research. I will know more if I go to the second round in 2 weeks.

On a good note, I was able to take an earlier flight back home. I had to run to the gate and I barely got on.

So now I am home and I am about to take a nap.

Have a good weekend!

The Ski is Falling

Or it feels like it anyway.

There are people around here who are creating issues or making issues bigger than what they really are. Mostly because they are afraid of loosing their jobs but it's also their nature.

There are also people kissing way to much ass around here. There is a lady that works here that is totally annoying. When they announced they had fired my bosses, bosses boss and our VP was appointed the interim person, she immediately asked should we start sucking up now? The next day she brought in bagels and has been in his office more than usual.

She annoys me. She is a know-it-all and she never shuts up. EVER.

Anyway, do your co-workers annoy you?

Things are Changing

Things are changing around here. My bosses, boss, boss was "let go" and now our department is under review. I have the feeling there are is going to be a 50% cut in staff to try to save cost around here. I wasn't to worried the first couple of days but not that everyone around me is panicking I am starting to panic as well.

That is all everyone seems to talk about in my department these days. And it doesn't matter what you are talking about, the subject always pops up. It's so tense here that people have started packing up their belongings and asking the copy center to copy certain materials they created, training manuals, etc.

And everyone seems to be working hard. Normally we all show up late but since all of this happened everyone is at their desk by 8 and leaves at 5 or after 5. I on the other hand came in late today. I had a tough night and couldn't sleep. But I have been on time every day this week…which is rare for me.

As far as packing, I don't really have anything here that I want to take with me. The only thing is a calendar that I use from Shigeki's Christmas mail out, my hand lotion, and my flash drive. Everything else that is here they can keep. I have never really personalized my work areas. I never put up photos or decorate so I don't have to box anything up.

I was talking to two ladies in my department who have been here for 5 years (which is rare, our turn over rate is over 50%), one of them use to be in HR and was telling horror stories of people who had been fired and either had guns in their bags or came back and sat in the parking lot waiting for their boss who fired them to come out. CRAZY

Anyway, we were making plans to go to Chicago in May but those plans will have to be postponed until we know what's going on around here.

On a happier note: This is my 500 Post!

Do you Twit?

I just joined Twitter. I thought twice about joining because it would just be another site to remember about updating but the beauty of this site is that you can update using your phone or your messenger.

So what is Twitter? According to the site:

Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

So I am on Twitter. Let me know if you are on it or if you join.

Steroids, Pains and St Patricks Day!

Are you wondering what they all have in common? Well, nothing really. But I will be talking about all 3 in today's post.

First off, Happy St. Patricks Day everyone! Did you drink your share of green beer this weekend? B, a friend of ours, and I went to a huge block party where we got pushed, shoved, stepped on, and spilled on about a thousand times in about a thirty minute period. We got in touch with another friend and ended up going to a house party where he was a few blocks away. After that party we went to another house party where they had a dj, more kegs that I could count, and lots of drunk boys and girls having a good time.

Sunday we went to another St. Patricks day party that wasn't as fun as the ones on Sunday but it was nice to run into old friends and annoying acquaintances.

Steroids or testicles? what's next?

Lets go with steroids. I don't remember if I have mentioned that I hurt my self and I am to lazy to pull up the old post. I pulled a groin muscle, hurt my hip, hurt both arms, and broke a toe. Yes, I have been racking up the medical bills and the weight since I have not been working out. I went to the doctor last week and he put me on steroids to help with my hip. I also spoke with my running coach and he gave me these great hip exercises that help out a lot. I feel better already.

And don't worry, the steroids are only for 5 days and it is not enough to give me roid rage or give me muscles a'la Hulk.
