My new diet

I have decided to go on a diet. Not a food diet, well sort of. I seem to be going out to lunch/dinner way to much. I am spending so much money that I am blowing my budget month after month.

This week alone I have gone out to dinner 3 times, lunch 4 times, and breakfast 1.

Dinner isn't cheap. Especially in Dallas. So starting tomorrow I am going to cut back. I will only go out to dinner and lunch once a week. The rest of the week I will be cooking at home.

The only thing is that I am not really good at cooking. So I need simple recipes that don't require a lot of ingredients and are fast to prepare. Any ideas?

Cool...Thats my kind of boy...i like to set goals and do them...Specially personal ones such as diet...Expenses...Workout...Well for a start i think you should know what you wanna cook at home and make an approximate list of how much it may cost you, knowing that sometimes when we tend to cook at home we end up paying more than we could have if we ate outside...A "money diet" works well with a "food diet", the less u wanna eat the less you will pay...But i prefer if you go for the healthy things...Sandwiches instead of plates...soups, salads...Vegetables mostly...And the major thing behind every "money diet" is keeping yourself busy at home with intresting stuff than preferring to go out with friends...DVD, hobbies, etc...As for what to prepare??? all depends on how much it costs and what u like to have? But then again can't u just cut your expenses from somewhere else than the food? anyway i think a light salad at nights can be enough, no dinners or just one every month...trust me this way u will look forward for it...A sandwich for lunch with a soup or salad...yet i don't know if you're fit? fat or slim?...I'm talking as if i'm an expert don't take me seriously, im just another blogger:P

For REALLY simple stuff, visit the Kraft Foods Web site:
http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf

But watch the portions/calorie count. A lot of these are "family" type recipes.

Also, check out this new product from Birds Eye. It's called Steam Fresh. The frozen veggies cook in the package to perfection. They always come out crisp. I know, I know. I'm paying extra for the convenience. But, darn it, it's worht it!

This one right here is actually good http://chicken.allrecipes.com/az/TastyChicken.asp I've tried it myself a few times, and it sure is tasty.

I'm gonna have to e-mail you the recipe for this pot roast I make. I'm in the same boat and really try to keep it to basics as to what I cook, just some spices, then either grill or bake. I make enough that'll last me a few days. It's frustrating sometimes I wanna date somebody that can cook so I won't have to worry about it lol. Errr, maybe just a roommate would do. Enjoy your long weekend!

I also check out kraftfoods.com like fwmama. But be careful, most of their stuff is high in fat!

I also checkout Allrecipes.com for new ideas. It's a free site where people post thier own recipes.

I also go to sams club and stock up on quick/easy things that I eat a lot of. Chicken strips, buffalo wings, seafood... They also have a great produce and meat section.

I like fish [salmon, catfish filet, etc] and just pour spices all of it and bake/broil... easy as pie [which I don't make!]... Steam some veggies... minute rice... Well, that's our fave thing to do I guess. I don't cook either. bleh!

Oh just order in! :-) Have a wonderful weekend Cesar!!! Hope you get Monday off!

Japanese is relatively healthy though it does take some time to cook. But there are some fast recipes you can do. The problem is whether you might like it or not....

I hope your plan goes well!

You know what Robert? I wonder why they say, "easy as pie?". Pie isn't easy to make. It's pretty hard and messy actually. . .

Wonder how that saying came about?

Ohhh I am starting the same thing. Seriously I kid you not. I literally just made a list of three casserole type things I want to make. I was waiting for fall to start so I wouldn't mind using the oven. Usually what I do is make a few things, then divide it up into smaller portions and freeze them in ziplock containers and bring them for lunch to work. Let me think about the supper idea though and I will get back to you!!! I took over 14,000 steps again today. I am still trying to go to the gym but doing new stuff at work is keeping the steps going...will be in touch.

Envy - Thanks for the receipy on your blog. I know I am going to have problems sticking with my diet.

SM - I get their magazine but you are right, their stuff isn't always healthy. :(

Kris - I am not sure if it is they way I cook or just me being paranoid but when I cook chicken at home it always taste funny. So I only eat chicken when someone else cooks it for me. (Maybe I am just being lazy)

Kb - I need a card for Sams but everything they have is so big and it's just me. Maybe I can find someone to split the food with me. I can't eat 20 pieces of salmon by myself.

Robert - I love fish, especially fresh fish and it is so easy to cook. I will try that. My mom is staying with me again this week so I am sure I wont be eating healthy.

Shigeki - I am afraid I would completely butcher Japanese food. I did have sushi tonight (I already fell off my budge diet).

Sue - we are going to have to encourage each other. I already fell off my diet today :(
